Mr. Congdon earned his JD from the Massachusetts School of Law. Prior to joining Fitzpatrick & Associates, PC, Mr. Congdon spent fifteen years working for Wakefield Management, Inc. in a variety of positions including Executive Vice President where he was responsible managing the legal and property affairs of a large multi state franchise company. These responsibilities included property acquisition, development and leasing in the property division and oversight of the worker's compensation, property insurance, customer relations and employee complaints for the legal division. Following his corporate career, Mr. Congdon gained employment law experience while serving as the employer liaison for ValleyWorks Career Center, a joint city/state partnership of the One Stop Career Center network of the Massachusetts Division of Career Services. In his position, Mr. Congdon worked with business leaders and companies in the Merrimack Valley to provide employment for hard to employ customers of the Career Centers. Following ValleyWorks Career Center, Mr. Congdon was appointed Deputy Director, Northern Region of the Massachusetts Department of Revenue, Child Support Enforcement Division. In his capacity, Mr. Congdon managed the Northern Regional office servicing child support customers of Essex and Middlesex counties. Mr. Congdon joined Fitzpatrick & Associates, PC as a partner in 2007. Mr. Congdon focuses his practice on senior and GLBT estate planning, real estate and civil matters. His concentration on the preparation of estate plans, including the use of revocable trusts, irrevocable life insurance trusts and Medicaid planning expanded into offering seminars and consultation for senior groups at local banks, senior centers and area nursing home companies. As a senior advocate, Mr. Congdon works with seniors referred through the AARP Legal Services Network on a variety of issues. Currently, Mr. Congdon is a member of the Elder Services of Merrimack Valley Advisory Council. Mr. Congdon's experience with the GLBT community provides the understanding and compassion necessary to draft estate plans protecting the gay or lesbian couple from unwanted interference from unsupportive families, medical facilities and states where DOMA does not recognize same sex couples. Since unmarried same sex couples do not have the protection afforded to married couples as a result of Goodridge vs. DPH, care must be afforded the couple to plan accordingly for the anticipated events which might confront the couple at home or in another jurisdiction. As a real estate broker with an interest in real estate law, Mr. Congdon provides clients guidance in purchasing and selling real estate and handles the various legal documents associated with real estate transfers and attends closings on behalf of the client. Due to the growing financial needs of seniors, Mr. Congdon and his partner started Reverse Mortgage Advisors, LLC to assist seniors over the age of 62 utilize the equity in their homes to pay for medical expenses, outstanding mortgages, living expenses and home improvements. The federally licensed operation provides free consultation to seniors and their families about the benefits of reverse mortgages. As an attorney owned and operated reverse mortgage company, customers benefit from a legal perspective review of their entire financial situation to ascertain whether a reverse mortgage is best suited for them.
Following a career that led him to Massachusetts to replicate the Pennsylvania family system model for psychiatric day treatment centers, Mr. Congdon earned an MBA from Fitzpatrick and Associates, P.C. located in Tewksbury, Massachusetts, serves clients in Middlesex County and the Merrimack Valley, including Tewksbury, Lowell, Chelmsford, Billerica, Wilmington, Andover, North Andover, Woburn, Reading, North Reading, and Westford. |
